Taiwan and the European Union have solid economic and trade relations as well as cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including environment, science, health, culture and education, and address issues of mutual concern in these areas in the context of the bilateral consultation mechanism between Taiwan and the European Commission.

Taiwan is the leading manufacturer in the ICT industry and one of the key players in semiconductor, electronics and terminal devices. Smartphones, tablets, PNDs are largely made in Taiwan.

In terms of GNSS Taiwan has been actively participating in the European Satellite Navigation Competition (Galileo Masters) since 2008.

Thus the potential for industrial cooperation between Taiwan and the EU on GNSS downstream applications is enormous. The GNSS.asia related activities in Taiwan are led by the European Chamber of Commerce Taipei (ECCT), bringing its own experience, network and industrial cooperation expertise to make the project a sustainable success.
